Thanks to the sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers, the Anderson Island Community Fitness Center now has the funds to complete Phase II of II in acquiring needed commercial fitness cardio equipment for the gym. Recently, Phase I has been completed with your donations and we acquired nine Life Fitness Resistance Circuit Series machines that are now in the fitness center and are working wonderfully!

With the proceeds from the AICFC Charity Golf Tournament, the fitness center will soon be purchasing new commercial grade cardio equipment! Having good fitness equipment will allow us to grow membership and continue to provide FREE youth and senior programs and other events and programs, making the fitness center an asset our community can enjoy! So, stay tuned as we will announce when the additional new equipment has been purchased and installed in the fitness center!

Life Fitness Resistance Circuit Series Machines At Our Fitness Center

This is the recently acquired Life Fitness Resistance Circuit Series machines being used at the fitness center… Easy-to-use and not intimidating, the Circuit Series is an ideal choice for a diverse range of exercisers and an inviting introduction for those new to strength training.

Life Fitness Resistance Circuit Series Machines:

Weight Training Made Accessible: Strength training for people who are new to fitness or are looking for an inviting and effective circuit training workout.

Quick Transitions: No adjustments and convenient push-down resistance controls allow for quick transitions during circuit training and make it easy for novice exercisers to use.

Lifeband Resistance System: Proprietary technology provides a smooth and consistent resistance profile regardless of speed of movement.

Push-button Controls: Conveniently positioned and easy to use so that users can change resistance quickly during circuit training. Less intimidating for new exercisers than traditional pin systems.

Consistent Resistance Levels: Resistance levels are correlated throughout the series. If a user prefers level 10 on one machine, they will likely exercise at level 10 on all machines in the series.

What's Been Happening...

AICFC Annual Meeting - October 19th, 2019

The Anderson Island Community Fitness Center Annual Meeting was held October 19th at the Archival Building. All the AICFC board members were in attendance along with many of the fitness center members. We discussed the budget, membership, policy changes, available funds for new cardio equipment and re-capped what the fitness center had accomplished since last April.

Policy changes: There is no longer an enrollment fee nor required training, however, equipment orientation is available. We have added daily, weekly, and two-week passes. We announced that our membership increased to 70 members – up from 38 in April. Deb Lal, Fitness Center Manager, had on display flyers of the numerous choices of new cardio equipment. Members at the meeting had a chance to vote on their 3 preferred pieces of cardio equipment.

In April, Deb Lal came on board as the new Fitness Center. The gym was re-arranged, added some new class equipment, fitness center documents were updated. In May, an Open House was held and with received donations, we were able to purchase a new commercial grade tread mill. We also started to offer class passes for Anderson Island residents. In June, free senior and youth summer programs were offered to the community. The seniors class is still being held every Tuesday at 10:30 at the Archival building. The American Legion Bingo Night June 26th raised $850 to present to the Fitness Center to help support the Summer Youth Program. In July, Dr. Peter Atkins, Chiropractor in Fircrest donated 9 pieces of Life Fitness Resistance Circuit Series Machines. They are easy to use and an ideal choice for a diverse range of exercisers and for strength training, and the machines are working wonderfully! In August the fitness center put on the first annual Loop The Lake Community Fun Run. This event was designed for those of all ages and abilities and encouraged to participate. It is our commitment to promote wellness and healthy living, and at the same time to have fun! September 29th was our biggest fundraising event of the year. The AICFC Charity Golf Tournament – Fore Fitness! was held, and thanks to sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers over $20,000 was raised to purchase new commercial grade cardio equipment. This golf tournament happened to also be the biggest golf tournament on Anderson Island this year, so thank you all!

Since the Annual Meeting, new commercial grade cardio equipment has been selected, has been ordered and should arrive somewhere around the new year! We could not have accomplished so much without our community support, thank you!
